• When the girls were gone, he turned to Anne. She was already busy repotting a plant before he had a chance to have a conversation with her. She'd been distant from him, and he wondered if her emotional distance meant that she knew about what was happening with Kenzie. His guilt was starting to wear on him, and he could feel himself tightening up in the chest as he imagined what would happen if Anne found out.
